Welcome to Ono Valley Farm Thirty- four acres of rolling hillside pasture and woods for the Irish Dexter cattle to roam. This area is home to the Big South Fork recreation Park, which runs through the mountains of Tennessee and into Kentucky. Please let us know if we can schedule a visit to our farm. We are only ten miles from Interstate 75, off Highway 63. All cattle are wormed and registered. We acquired a dandy, tame dun bull- Foxborough's Marley this year. We are anticipating an increase in our herd for 2011. Keep checking back for updates. More About Irish Dexter Cattle The Dexter is one of the smallest breed of cattle, standing 36 to 44 inches at the shoulder. Due to their small size they consume about half of what an Angus or Hereford would consume, turning pasture into rich milk and lean meat. They are very gentle, economical to raise, and can be trained to plow or pull. Dexter's are an ideal source for giving 1-1/2 to 2 gallons of milk per day with about 4 percent buttermilk. The cream separates easily for making delicious butter or ice cream. Dexter's are a hardy breed, giving birth without assistance. The breed will clear out older or overgrown pastures with grazing. They do well in many climates, preferring to be be outside in the snow as opposed to using a shelter in the middle of winter. They are perfect for small farmsteads. A sweet cow & calf pair for sale
